Origin offers free install and half price service in South Yorkshire

If you live in South Yorkshire and had been considering connecting to the Digital Region network, then the offers from Origin are worth a look. The FTTC provider is offering free installation and three months half price broadband on its residential and business services. To qualify you need to order before 31st December 2012.

The price reduction means their entry level residential service running at up to 24 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up service will cost £9.25 per month for the first three months, returning to the standard £18.50 thereafter. The free installation is worth £50, all the products come with no caps, limits or traffic shaping.

The four residential options offered by Origin allow you to pick the speed/price combination that best suits your needs and budget and with 91% of customers receiving at least 20 Mbps the service should provide a very welcome speed boost to those still using ADSL2+ in the area.

As with all the other Digital Region suppliers an active voice line rental is required, this can be via BT Retail or a WLR provider or via Origin. Origin offers a variety of line rental options of its own including a Naked DSL type option where the voice line is assigned no number which costs £11.49 per month, with a £35 installation for the new line.

Website says my old house is right on top of an access point but says 40/10 for the speed. They used to do double that. Maybe they downscaled to cope?

I would take those estimates with a pich of salt..My home is less than 200 metres walking distance from the fibre cabinet but the old copper cable runs 861 metres.I get roughly 23mb down/8mb up..which is nowhere near what I was estimated when I first put my details into the checker, saying that it is a dam sight more than the 2.5mb I was getting with O2

And here I am with an access point less than 100 yards away that should be good for 40/10, sitting on a BE connection syncing at 5Mbps..
