Fibre Options are leading the fibre side of the project, that should deliver an integrated reception system for TV services and support for VoIP negating.

One of the key findings of the BDUK pilot was: "A major factor which will contribute to stimulating demand is the existence of a vibrant and
competitive retail service provider (i.e. internet service providers) market. The key learning
in ensuring take up is making sure any platform has equivalence of access (in terms of
operational support systems and business support systems) to the rest of the UK."

The sign of true progress will be the retail ISPs that sign up to all these itty-bitty (but decent speed) projects.

Though a report on a pilot that has not actually delivered any connections is to be considered just another report in the long list that we produce in the UK

True ;)

But the point of pilots is to pass the lessons learnt on to the projects that follow... but the followers are coming along far too fast to wait.

And it does give us, Joe Public, a window on what the different areas have been focussing on. I bet it is harder to discover the internals of the mainstream BDUK projects when they're up & running.

For example, I didn't realise that the EU ERDF funding is only for businesses, not residential.
