The Cloud offer free Wi-Fi with your pint in Greene King pubs

The Cloud have fired up a new partnership with pub chain Greene King so you can enjoy free Wi-Fi with your pint. Over 2,400 pubs, restaurants and hotels, including the Hungry Horse and Loch Fyne brands will be included in the deal which envelopes the 1,000 Greene King managed and 1,400 leased and tenanted premises. This adds to the 5,000 pubs already on The Cloud's network which includes JD Wetherspoon, Spirit Pub Company and Stonegate Pub Company.

"We've seen more and more people use WiFi in our pubs in the last 12 months and it is was clear to us that we needed to introduce it to all of our pubs, restaurants and hotels. It helps us attract a wider audience across the day, including at traditionally quieter times, as well as providing the infrastructure we can use for new services that improve customer satisfaction and loyalty over the longer term. We have been delighted with the service that The Cloud have provided, so they seemed the natural partner to roll out across our estate."

Peter Groves, (Group Commercial Director) Greene King

300 pubs have already been installed with Wi-Fi and the stats from these show that over 5TB (terabytes) of data were downloaded in April across these. 57% of users connected with an iPhone whilst 22% used another smartphone.

Sounds like a lot of data but it's less than 17GB per pub per month :)

Tried it last Saturday on my Galaxy S2, 50ms ping, 6Mbps down, 1Mbps up, lot better than it was before Sky took over.
