Innerleithen to be first place in Scotland with FTTP
Both the BBC and itv have highlighted the Borders town which should see the fibre services activated in 2012. Nothing wrong in highlighting the possibility of up to 80 Mbps and up to 300 Mbps services arriving to an area, as it will help attract businesses to an area. The danger though is that people can be easily confused and the repeated announcments of fibre roll-outs every few months and may make people think there is more activity than there really is.
We are expecting news on possible further investment in superfast broadband roll-outs today, but before people celebrate any announcements we need to be careful to look under the surface and see if any of the money was previously announced.
