Businesses in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire time to speak up

While we are sure there are some that will question the point of filling in surveys online to inform decision makers, if no-one puts their case forward then one can hardly complain about the end result if it is not ideal for you.

Businesses in the rural Herefordshire and Gloucestershire areas are being invited to fill in a survey about the current state of broadband in terms of business use. Though we would encourage even those not in rural areas who may still get a poor broadband service to ensure they fill in the survey, to ensure a complete picture is presented.

The survey form includes a number of 'talking head' features from business people in the area discussing why broadband is important to them and their business. An often repeated issue is that current generation solutions do not offer sufficient upload speeds for sending documents/data to customers.

While it should be possible for councils to identify areas in most need of broadband uplifts, by carrying out the surveys it will in the future be able to see if projects have met their goals, and additionally when trying to secure funding, the needs of business users often vastly outweigh that of the public.

Most people in Herefordshire at least least know how bad broadband is around here. The only people that can get a high speed are those that live on top of the exchange and even some of them can't.

The main industrial estate have wireless broadband, so it is not so bad for them

No survey is going to make any difference

Pretty much every county in the country is doing this, often at BDUK's request, although a few have yet to publicise that fact.
