Fibre Only Exchange (FOX) trial candidate locations announced

BT Openreach have announced today candidate areas where it intends to trial a fibre-only exchange (FOX). This follows a previous release which contained draft information which has now changed. The test will offer only fibre services from this site which would include fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) and fibre Ethernet services.

The exchange locations being considered are:

  • Deddington, Oxfordshire (NGA handover site: Banbury)
  • Pickmere, Cheshire (NGA handover site: Northwich)
  • Sutton, Cheshire (NGA handover site: Macclesfield)

Openreach is inviting communication providers to state their views on the preferred site for the trial, including reasons behind this by Friday 9th September.

That could set a dangerous precedent, customers might expect an improvement in service provisions for billing hikes.
