Virgin Media agree partnership with Spotify music service
Virgin Media have announced a partnership with Spotify to bring the music streaming service to its customers across multiple platforms. Virgin customers will be able to access the service through their computers, through mobile phones, or through their TV if powered by Virgin's TiVo service.
"We are delighted to have united the Virgin Media brand with the world’s best music service. Spotify will help our customers to fill their world with music, whether it’s at home or on the go, and provide a unique way to get even more out of Virgin Media’s leading digital services.Jon James, (Director of Broadband) Virgin Media
Full product details haven't been released in this announcement, but the company plan to launch in the coming months, making spotify available to both new and existing customers with a range of Special Offers. This will include Spotify Unlimited, which offers unlimited access, ad-free, to the Spotify music library, and Spotify Premium, which allows use whilst on the move through mobile devices. No details of how much people will need to pay are available.
The pricing of Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Premium are £4.99 and £9.99 respectively when purchased direct, so Virgin will need some keen discounts if they are to entice users who do not already pay for the service, particularly if they are looking to get onboard some of the users who currently use illegal file sharing for acquiring music.
