Timico announces £7m datacentre infrastructure

Newark based business ISP Timico has today announced it is investing £7 million to build a new datacentre and network operations centre at its headquarters. The facility will provide hosting space for 150 4kW cabinets allowing Timico to offer diverse hosting away from London and Manchester. Timico's key strategy is the delivery of private cloud services for businesses.

"Timico has seen an exciting growth in the number of businesses rolling out MPLS Wide Area Networks using broadband as the main bearer for remote sites. It is fairly typical now for the company to see WANs with hundreds of broadband connections.

This growing trend is set to accelerate as more locations are able to use FTTC. The faster upload speeds (up to 10Megs now and 30Megs with FTTP) is going to persuade more businesses to adopt the use of private clouds for their storage and computing requirements and this is one of the business drivers for the Timico investment."
