Virgin Boost video-on-demand library with content from Five

Virgin Media have announced today that Channel 5 programmes are being added to their on-demand platform for catch-up TV available through their TV service and website at no extra charge to customers. This will make Virgin the first provider to offer on-demand catch up for all of the UK's main terrestrial broadcasters (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Five).

The on-demand content will include both UK shows such as The Gadget Show and Fifth Gear as well as imports from the US like CSI: Miami, Grey's Anatomy and The Mentalist. Popular Australian soaps, Neighbours and Home and Away, will also feature on the service. Some shows will be available in HD, improving the users viewer experience.

"We're delighted to add Demand Five to our pioneering TV On Demand service and to complete our offering of terrestrial TV catch-up services. With a high calibre of shows including quality US drama, popular Australian soaps and entertaining and informative home grown programmes with many in HD, Demand Five has something for everyone."

Cindy Rose, (executive director of digital entertainment) Virgin Media

Virgin's on-demand TV library now includes over 4,600 hours of TV film and music that can be accessed instantly on your TV by the touch of a button.

So what's the big deal? 5 on demand was on TV catchup when I signed up a few years ago then it was removed last year or the year before, much to my annoyance as I used it fairly frequently. Virgin have a habit of removing channels and replacing them with something completely different.

I work for VM, have all the services and can confirm we have never had On Demand services for FIVE. I am really happy with this announcement as I have personally been waiting for ages to finally get FIVE On Demand to complete our terrestrial Catch Up repertoire.
