Deadline to buy Tiscali approaching

The deadline to submit bids for the purchase of Tiscali of May 5th is fast approaching and latest news indicates conflicting information as to who may be in the running. According to a Reuters source familiar with the situation, Vodafone Group has not submitted a bid conflicting a report in Italian newspaper MF today that indicated both BT and Vodafone had submitted bids for the purchase of the whole company.

Both BSkyB and Carphone Warehouse have indicated that they are looking into the purchase of Tiscali but are primarily focusing on growing their own offerings. Tiscali have said they would be willing to break up the Italian and British arms if it would help find a buyer. This may be appealing to potential bidders from the UK as it will allow them to continue to focus on the market they understand best. Tiscali operate a television service, Tiscali TV, over their broadband connections in some areas which may be attractive to Carphone Warehouse as a way of getting into the quad-play (TV, broadband, telephone and mobile) market.

Does anyone have experience of mobile broadband coverage in Cornwall? I travel down their regularly and am thinking about signing up with a mobile broadband provider but have heard coverage can be poor in some rural areas. I’ve been looking at various different mobile broadband providers here: http://www.broadband-expert.co.uk/broadband/mobile and am leaning towards Vodafone.

Any advice would be great. I don’t want to sign up and find I’m paying for a product that doesn’t work!
