BT to share Faroe Telecom's fibre

As part of its upgrades for the 21CN roll-out, BT has signed a deal to share a new under-sea fibre cable linking the Faroe Islands, Orkney, Shetland and the Scottish mainland. The deal is with Faroe Telecom who own the 760km long cable, and it has been leased to BT under a long term agreement.

While just a small part of the work to bring the 21st Century Network upgrades to all parts of the UK, it demonstrates the sort of work involved in meeting a nationwide roll-out. More on this over at computing.co.uk.
