More free Wi-Fi on its way

National Express has been offering free Wi-Fi on its services between Cambridge and London for a while. This service is now set to expand with routes between Milton Keynes and Canary Wharf in London benefiting from free Wi-Fi.

Moovera is the hardware supplier who are also involved in the Reading Wi-Fi service. The service will make use of the Vodafone 3G network to provide up to 3.6Mbps of connectivity to the coaches.

The Milton Keynes to London route is particularly popular with business commuters. The journey takes a little over two hours, and we want to deliver services that enable our customers to make best use of their time. Internet access at broadband speeds is a natural choice and the success of our initial Moovbox Wi-Fi installations between Cambridge and London proved the concept. Moovera’s experience with delivering robust and reliable mobile broadband technology meant they were the right partner for our expansion to further routes.

As I've mentioned before on this sort of topic, one of the London-Oxford buses (the "Oxford Tube") has had broadband for some time.

Last time I used Oxford Tube it was 22:00 on a Sunday evening.

The Wi Fi would not work and the bus broke down:-(

Go figure - it's been a little slow before but it's a lot quicker than the train for me (since it beings me into London directly opposite where I'm going, not 3 tube stops away), and wifi's allways been fine for web browsing and games of megamek..

@harryhound public transport is rarely perfect and wifi on services even though its not a brand new thing is still a relatively new developing idea, there are bound to be problems with it from time to time, personally i think its a good idea. How many actually use it is another thing entirely, but if something useful is offered to me for free it makes sense to just say thankyou and take it.
