Oftel Releases Plan for Telecoms OmbudsmanOftel today released the document detailing a new Ombudsman designed to resolve disputes between consumers and telecoms companies.
The purpose is to allow consumers and small business's to resolve problems without recourse to courts. The ombudsman is to be run by the telecoms industry as a whole, and should be established by Summer 2002.
The maximum compensation the board will be allowed to award is £5000.
