European Commission clears Carphone Warehouse to buy AOL
Back in October 2006 there was the news that Carphone Warehouse wanted to buy AOL UK for £370m gaining some 1.5 million broadband customers and the unbundled network that AOL had around 100,000 customers already on.
Today sees the news (spotted on Forbes.com) that the European Commission has approved the deal which will make the Carphone Warehouse the third largest broadband provider after BT Retail and ntl:Telewest (soon to be called Virgin Media) in the UK.

Sorry day for users
As an AOL subscriber, I dread to think how much worse the Service aspect of my ISP will become, combined with all Carphone Warehouse's services problems. Time for a short-sharp-exit to another provider, methinks!
Spectacular! AOL is so bad already, I reckon the fortunes of its UK arm will improve markedly!
God help us all!
