Nineteen exchanges in South West to get ADSL
The last 19 exchanges without ADSL broadband in the South West look set to benefit from a partnership between the South West of England Regional Development Agency and BT - for more details see ThisIsBath.com.
Eighteen of the exchanges will have an RFS date in February 2006, and Rackenford in Devon will require around 14km of fibre optic cabling to be installed and will have a later RFS date of June 2006. This roll-out is part of a £1.3 million investment by the RDA which should benefit around 4000 homes and businesses.
The original item does end with the reality check that even with all exchanges ADSL enabled, there will be a small number of people still out of range of the service. The estimate given is that around one in 500 hundred customers are out of range of an ADSL service.
