BT reports 6.2 million broadband customers at end of half year
The demand for broadband in the UK seems to continue growing, with a corresponding drop in the level of dial-up use. The half year results for the BT Group are now available on the BT website. These show that at the end of September 2005, BT had around 6.2 million broadband connections, with 2.1 million of these via the BT Retail ISP operations. BT is reporting a decrease in the number of dial-up Internet minutes of 40%, which shows the rate people are switching to the various broadband options.
In the last quarter BT Retail made a net addition 171,000 broadband connections in the last quarter, which amounts to around 27% of the total additions by BT Wholesale.
