More broadband connections than dial-up in UK

The UK has taken a few years to get there, but the Office for National Statistics has announced that as of May 2005, the number of broadband connections was greater than the number of dial-up ones. The UK had 50.7% of Internet connections made via broadband, up from 49.2% in April 2005. Considering that back in 2001, less then one percent of Internet connections were via broadband this is a remarkable achievement. More details at National Statistics Online.

This rapid growth shows how far broadband has come, certainly since 2001 there has been massive price cuts combined with increases in speed, and availability of the various forms of broadband is approaching universal in the UK now.
