South East region reaches one million ADSL connections
It does not seem long ago, that BT were announcing 5 million BT Wholesale based broadband connections across the UK, in fact it was only 3 months ago. Well today sees the South East region break its own milestone, with its one millionth connection, which is up from 880,000 three months ago.
The breakdown by County in the South East is shown below:
- Berkshire: 107,000
- Buckinghamshire: 110,000
- East Sussex: 92,000
- Hampshire: 184,000
- Isle of Wight: 12,100
- Kent: 180,000
- Oxfordshire: 76,000
- Surrey: 142,000
- West Sussex: 99,000

The potential coverage for ADSL services in the South East should reach something like 99.9% of premises once the final exchanges are upgraded. These upgrades should all be done by the end of Summer 2005 hopefully.
