Cardiff looks set to head the 21CN roll-out
After some relatively low key trials, it looks like the first very large roll-out for the BT vision that is its 21st Century Network (21CN) is to take place in the Cardiff area in 2006.
The plan is to migrate around 350,000 customer lines on to the 21st Century Network platform. The purpose being to obtain feedback and learn about the challenges that may be involved in rolling out the new network across the whole of the UK. A crucial point is that BT must ensure that existing services like CPS, LLU and DSL services will continue to work, in addition to any new bells and whistles they make available.

The areas of Wales included are around Cardiff, Bridgend and Pontypridd. This area extends from Kenfig Hill in the west to the Llanrumney area of Cardiff in the east. It includes the Ogwr and Rhondda valleys and the Caerphilly and Bargoed areas.
