ntl On Demand service launched
ntl has taken the next evolutionary step with its digital cable TV service, and today announced the roll-out of its video-on-demand (VoD) service. The service will be launched initially in Glasgow, with timings for the other ntl areas of the UK to follow in due course. The full press release by ntl can be found here.
As well as the FilmFlex content like Telewest is offering initially in Bristol, ntl are also including a range of children's programming, 'pick of the week', music videos and adult programming. Movies will cost £3.50, with the childrens content ranging from £0.20 to £0.50. The 'pick of the week' content which will be a selection of the most popular TV shows from the last 7 days will be free to view via VoD.
Is Video-on-demand a revolution? Perhaps not, it is another evolutionary step for viewing television. As ntl themselves say "ntl customers will no longer be restricted by the whim of a TV scheduler.".
