Launch of the 2005 ISPAs
The prestigious Internet industry awards hosted by the Internet Services Providers Association (ISPA UK) for 2005 has been launched today. The event, described by The Times as "The awards that could have the most direct bearing on your life", bestows highly desired awards on ISPs in each category at the gala dinner ceremony taking place next February in London.
The categories have been revamped for the 2005 awards with a wider range of broadband services, bringing back the Data Centre category as well as a new Best Portal award. Purple Sun has been re-invited to provide the awards with an objective measurement of performance in the ISP division measuring speeds, DNS time, and more with three times as many tests being carried out as last year. The categories in full are:
Best National Consumer ISP
Best Metered Dial-up
Best Unmetered Dial-up
Best National Business ISP
Best Light Consumer Broadband
Best Heavy Consumer Broadband
Best Sumo Consumer Broadband
Best Hosting Provider
Best Light Business Broadband
Best Heavy Business Broadband
Best Sumo Business Broadband
Best Data Centre
The Internet Watch Foundation Award
The six broadband categories are expected to differentiate the wider range of broadband services that are available both to businesses and residential users.
ISPs wishing to take part in the awards should register soon after 14 September to be included in the testing with final supporting information required by 30 November.
In order to increase participation by ISPs who may not have traditionally taken part, entrants are being invited to attend a pre-registration briefing hosted by the Press Association on 3rd and 13th September to explain how the assessment works and what the entry requirements are in addition to being provided with an entry pack with further information.
More information on entering and the pre-registration briefing can be found at www.ispaawards.org.uk.
