More trigger level reductions from BT Wholesale

BT Wholesale has released another 10 trigger reductions. These new reductions are in response to a new method of linking exchanges together for the backhaul. This has resulted in some cost savings, allowing triggers to be reduced. This new system is not due for deployment until July 2003, so any of these ten that trigger, will not get a date before July. The changes are shown in the table below.

Old Trigger

New Trigger

Ash Green Kent 700 300
Bishops Cleeve Gloucestershire 550 300
Chirk Clwyd 550 300
Hebden Bridge West Yorkshire 500 300
Kimberley Nottinghamshire 450 300
Manningtree Essex 500 400
Skelmanthorpe West Yorkshire 550 300
Somersham Cambridgeshire 550 300
Staplehurst Kent 550 350
Tiptree Essex 550 300

Ten trigger reductions is not much to shout about, unless it is your exchange. At least it shows that BT Wholesale is not ignoring ways of reducing triggers and one hopes that these ten reductions are not the only ones, but perhaps the start of new wave of reductions. The most vocal group to complain in response to these reductions is likely to be those previously considered 'unviable' by BT Wholesale. Hopefully these unviable exchanges will be able to benefit from similar cost reductions and receive an attainable trigger level.
