Connexin full fibre network now on CityFibre platform – UPDATED

CityFibre

The acquisition of Connexin by CityFibre was announced in March 2025 and now it looks like the footprint of over 80,000 premises in the Hull and East Riding area is available via CityFibre.

CityFibre website showing availability at a previously Connexin address

This should now mean in the coming days and weeks we will see other retailers utilising the CityFibre platform. This is presuming the Connexin footprint is part of the national network, i.e. providers can connect their customers to their own network at one of the big points of presence CityFibre has rather than having to connect locally.

Fingers crossed this is also good news for those in the Project Gigabit Lot 10 area covering parts of Nottinghamshire and West Lincolnshire which was awarded to Connexin. There was some minor tweaks to the contract footprint a few weeks back but hopefully people will start to see actual progress soon, following by ready for service addresses appearing in the coming months. We have looked in the area and nothing obvious appears as rural build from CityFibre in the area as yet.

Update 8:30am For addresses in Beeford and North Frodingham we are seeing a range of CityFibre retailers available in addition to Connexin:

  • toob
  • 4th Utility
  • Vodafone
  • Connexin
  • Lit Fibre
  • Octaplus
  • IDNet
  • Cuckoo
  • Briant Broadband
  • Brillband
  • Converged
  • Brawband
  • ultra

We will look at other old Connexin areas and update our API to try and handle this mixture, though it may simply be the case that we are seeing the CityFibre checker itself updating, so things will settle down in a few days.

2nd Update 9am In Hull itself we are now seeing the same list of retail options. API version 2.92 will be released shortly adding a CityFibre Connexin field. Existing users of the API will see Vodafone CityFibre being flagged in the new areas with no changes on their side.

Update 10:30am Updated from 70,000 to 80,000 premises and quote from CityFibre:

“Hull has been held back by a lack of choice for far too long but CityFibre’s arrival brings competition and state-of-the-art infrastructure, helping to supercharge growth and giving residents and businesses their pick of the very best broadband.

As we continue to grow CityFibre’s future-proofed network, at over 4.5 million premises today and with plans to reach more than 8 million, our wholesale business model means we bring the best products, pricing and services to our partners, and game-changing connectivity and choice to homes, businesses and communities across the UK.”

Simon Holden, CEO, CityFibre

Update 11am The CityFibre press release states that big name providers such as Sky, Vodafone and TalkTalk are available on the old Connexin network in Hull. So far we’ve not seen Sky or TalkTalk appear, but once they do we will update our API, we have also checked several addresses on the Sky website to make sure its not just a CityFibre website delay. Our broadband maps are updating so that the old Connexin footprint is now showing in the CityFibre footprint.
