Top 10 Fastest Broadband ISPs for January 2003
Monday 03 February 2003 19:05:00 by jez

Monthly results from our ISP Speed Test. The wintery month of January yielded a few changes of fortune for Service Providers around the country. Although many ISPs deliver fairly constant results on a month by month basis, we do see them jumping around due to the competitive nature of the Broadband arena.

Nildram has slipped from an average speed of 444 to 433 Kbps due to central pipe installation delays and overcrowding during the first couple of weeks of January - although they managed to hold on to first position! Well done to PIPEX for climbing up to 4th and improving overall speed by 10 Kbps since December.

Please note that smaller ISPs may be excluded from this list due to a lack or absence of speed test data. ISPs are ranked by average downstream speed for 512Kbps connections with a minimum of 150 confirmed test results ("total" column). ISPs with a greater number of speed test results should be considered to be a more accurate representation of network performance. In addition, we urge our users to try our ISP Comparator which considers other factors such as reliability and customer service. Remember to ask in our Message Boards if you're choosing a new ISP!
