The low down on the unrealistic 173 exchanges
Monday 30 September 2002 19:12:00 by Andrew Ferguson

A list of the 173 exchanges where BT has decided that setting a trigger level would be unrealistic can be seen in our Announcements forum.

BT Wholesale confirm the reason for not setting a trigger on these exchanges is that due to the number of lines served by that exchange, the trigger level that would be set based on the current costs for enabling the exchange could not be realistically met. BT Wholesale is looking at ways to reduce the costs involved in enabling these exchanges for broadband and also at different ways of delivering broadband to these areas.

BT Wholesale also states that the levels of demand on these exchanges will still be monitored and if significant numbers of registrations come through they will reassess the situation.
