Reading goes a bit more Gigabit
Tuesday 26 January 2016 11:16:23 by Andrew Ferguson

Hyperoptic is the largest FTTB operator in the UK and with offices in Reading it makes sense for the town to have a retail Gigabit presence that is now in several buildings namely Portman Square, Heron House and Cygnet House which is a new part of the Kennet Island development.

"I very much welcome the investment that Hyperoptic are making in our local area as they roll out gigabit broadband in Reading. Securing faster broadband speeds for residents and businesses in Reading West will be key to unlocking our town’s economic potential and continues to be one of my top priorities as a Member of Parliament.

Alok Sharma, Member of Parliament for Reading West

We have been seeing speed test results from Reading and Heron House in particular since May 2015, so the main news today is the extra coverage with Cygnet House we believe. Apart from us pointing out that Hyperoptic is available if you do a postcode search on our checker the other give away is the symmetric average speeds that are a result of the faster options from Hyperoptic.

Hyperoptics choice of locations is confusing as they have just refused to come to Crawley, Horley or Horsham even though there is confirmed plans for 500+ apartments in Crawlers city centre not to mention the near enough same figure that exists already and then business premises also, and all part of a regeneration project and an area where already 50+ people have registered interest...

Yet they have enabled 2-3 apartment building in Croydon, 1/2 in Epsom and turing on some in Brighton within the next few weeks.
