Northamptonshire claims first round of BDUK work finished
Tuesday 22 December 2015 10:16:56 by Andrew Ferguson

The end of 2015 is approaching rapidly and a week ago Northamptonshire declared its phase 1 BDUK project was 100% complete. So we have double checked our figures, found the few areas of native FTTP delivered and updated our checker and believe superfast coverage at over 24 Mbps is 89.7%, which is pretty darned close to the original goal of 90% by the end of 2015.

Of course 89.7% is not everyone with access to superfast broadband and our table of coverage by constituency will help people to gauge the good and bad areas or just check a specific postcode using our checker.

The county is working with BT on phase 2 to take superfast to 95% and FTTH from Gigaclear in the county is worth another 1% of coverage too (not included in the figures today though). There is also the Virgin Media Project Lightning roll-out that while it may overlap in many places could help fill in some of the remaining urban slow spots.

Hi Broadband Watchers.
Just keep watching the TBB results as they are updated every 2 or 3 days and you can see the % results moving as the Cab,s open this will also be bringing in the customers under the 10 meg window. The 10 meg window is the most inportant to watch.as it puts pressure on the sat systems and wireless.

NN13 6GA-F have access to FTTP, but don't seem to show as such on the postcode checker.

And here I am stuck in the middle, surrounded by all this BDUK Northampton Fibre and still on 3.5mb Adsl, with no sign of anything.

@lidf thanks spotting the FTTP which can sometimes be very small clusters is fun, will check surrounding area and probably get it added between Christmas and New Year.

It's a new estate. Only a few houses so far, but will be about 1000 once it's all done. Not if the whole development will get FTTP, but the Barratt homes at least are.
