The BT Wholesale product BT IPstream 500 - otherwise known as the USB engineer assisted install product, has gained a new lease of life.
Demand was expected to drift down to nothing with the introduction of the wires-only services but at this time there is enough demand that BT Wholesale has decided to not withdraw the product until
Q3 of the financial year 2002/2003.
The product was previously due to vanish from the price lists on 1st August 2002. The engineer assisted install costs £210+VAT, but includes an engineer visiting to install a BT ADSL
faceplate on the master socket and a line test using their own laptop. They leave the user with an Alcatel USB Speedtouch modem or Westel USB modem for the user to install on their own machine.
