Free ADSL2+ broadband from Plusnet
Wednesday 28 October 2015 10:29:22 by Andrew Ferguson

As one set of cash back offers at PlusNet has come to an end a new and perhaps simpler offer appears and potentially very attractive to those on more rural exchanges where prices can be higher with the lack of LLU options.

PlusNet unlimited ADSL2+ is now available for free for the full 18 months of the contract, only voice line rental to pay at £16.99 per month. After the 18 months the price of the broadband if you stay with PlusNet is currently £9.99 per month in the low cost areas or £17.49 for those outside the low cost area.

It looks quite a good offer until you wonder about the price you would have to pay after the 18 months in a Non LLU area.

You mean the £17.49 above?

Once your existing contract is up and you're happy to stay with PN then it's best to phone and speak to the Customer Options Team to see what deals are available by taking out a new contract, usually involves having both BB and LR with Plusnet.

21again - although you can end up being on a package you don't want. Eg; at the moment they only offer 80/20 or 40/2 so anyone on the old 40/10 or 40/20 packages could be very disappointed if they renew their contract.

Additionally they are reluctant to sell 80/20 unless your line is clearly capable of it. So someone on a borderline 80/20 might find themselves on 40/2.

@ AndrueC
Valid points which I've read on forums re. fibre but others might not be aware of.
My reply relates to the topic subject which isn't fibre but ADSL2+

@21again. I agree about renegotiating, I have done it in the past, but what sort of a price would you end up paying given a starting price of £17.49. And would you take out LRS for the last 6 months of the initial 18 months contract? The Post Office have much lower on going prices.

£00.00

> And would you take out LRS for the last 6 months of the initial 18 months contract?

No, I'd ask for a 12 month contract initially.

Should be highlighted that Post Office only provision ADSL speeds even if ADSL2+ actually available - hence their low position on speed test results.

I might be wrong, but isn't the Post Office using TalkTalk supplied broadband via LLU, so discussion in the same sentence as "rural" may be academic.
