£5 Unlimited ADSL2+ offer from BT and new Sainsbury's Gift Cards
Wednesday 29 July 2015 10:51:48 by Andrew Ferguson

The summer holiday season seems an odd time to launch your best offer for a long time, but BT fighting back strongly against likes of Sky who have had free ADSL2+ offers for sometime. The highlights from the latest set of BT offers follow with the 6th August being the date when the current voucher offer will expire.

  • Unlimited ADSL2+ at £5/month on a 12 month contract, then £18 per month. Offer includes a £75 Sainsbury's Gift Card you can claim for ordering online.
  • Unlimited ADSL2+ and TV Starter package Also £5/month for 12 months then £22 per month and includes a £75 Sainsbury's Gift Card. YouView box is basic pause and rewind device, but will give access to BT Sports channels, rather than just BT Sport Lite pack that non-TV packages include.
  • Unlimited Infinity 1 the £10/month for 12 months contract, then £23 per month. Infinity products qualify for a larger Sainsbury's Gift Card of £125.

As usual don't forget to factor in the cost of the voice line rental, currently £16.99 per month rising to £17.99 on 20th September 2015. There is also the £6.95 delivery charge for the Home Hub and Infinity and TV services often carry an activation fee, though this is free on the premium packages of Infinity 2,3 and 4.

While many visitors are keen to find the best fibre deals, the £5 ADSL2+ offer is important to those in areas where Sky and TalkTalk LLU services are not available as the BT pricing is often the lowest available in that case.

It is no secret, but while the prices once out of the minimum term contract may look high, a good number of people manage to negotiate retention deals in return for agreeing to stay another 12 months. So for those just coming to their end of a contract, chase for a better on-going deal or make use of the simpler migration system and chase down one of the many other offers.

The last paragraph interest me - I'm tempted by the BT Infinity 1 unlimited for £10 but how long have these offers been available and what is the likelihood of them continuing so there is always a good deal by switching at end of contract?
I currently pay £9.60 for 250GB/month, which is effectively unlimited for me, and get around 4Meg on adsl. The fibre box is now directly outside my property so I'm tempted.

Impossible to say whether fibre broadband will be available at £10/month from someone in 12 months time. A little like predicting what price will be charged for milk in a years time.

The chances of offers being available around that price will be high, we are already seeing free fibre offers, so downward trend looks set to continue.

Ok thanks - it is a generous offer with the Sainsbury's card.

@Zhango, make sure you go via topcashback or quidco too and you'll get cash back that will cover the whole cost of the fibre - i think it's about £150 at the moment.

Kr1s - nice one so thanks for the tip. I actually joined quidco last week but not used it yet.
I will miss this particular offer as BT only installed 200 lines from the fibre cabinet to see what the take-up was and all used now. BT have planned to install more lines and The BTW availability checker says availability date 26th Aug but I expect there will be another offer after this one.

As a long standing BT customer, it annoys me intensely that on the one hand, they have this offer and on the other hand they are putting up my monthly line rental by pound.
