Gigaclear set to float on London Stock Market
Monday 15 September 2014 11:59:41 by Andrew Ferguson

Gigaclear who target rural communities with their FTTH/P network is apparently set to float on the stock market according to the Financial Times.

Gigaclear has nine communities where its service is live and another five in the build phase. Crucially for future growth the operator believes there is a market of some 1.5 million homes that could benefit, hence the desire to raise more funding via the stock market, initially £20 million.

If Gigaclear can successfully go public and raise the funding we can expect to see a rapid expansion and it may also boost the ability of other firms to expand as confidence in the return on investment from full fibre networks increases.

I hope they flop, big time. They wouldn't help our local village.

Probably because you do not meet their criterion.
As well as size etc you need to be within reach of access to the internet backhaul. If you ain't then you are likely going to be out of luck.

GC are a pure commercial firm, its not like BT/BDUK.
If you as a village are not easy pickings then they will not be interested.
If you cannot rustle up the 30% (it's far harder than you might think) they won't be interested.

This whole idea from some people that altnets like GC are mysteriously going to fix all the bits that Bt/BDUK are not going to do is in my opinion fantasy land.

At the moment they are asking their customers if they would like the opportunity to subscribe to the shares.

For those of us without the insight care to explain where this HDJ area actually is?

Hi A/S. I used HDJ because it was used for the coding of cables between exchanges. HDJ = Hindhead and FJ = Farnham. Thus HDJ - FJ NO 1.
Hindhead area 3000k Sam Knows.
