We have received reports that of the Z-420UK filters returned to Excelsus as faulty, most had solder bridges between pins 2-4 and 3-5 on the phone line end. This has the effect of preventing the user from hearing a dial tone if they plug a phone into the filter when attached to the phone line. The line should work fine when the filter is removed and the telephone attached directly to the line box. Apparently, as pins 3-4 are not used in the splitter, this was not tested for.
Excelsus have audited their own inventory and are taking action to make sure that customers ordering new filters receive ones without this fault. In addition, they will be replacing any faulty units returned to them. If customers have problems with their filters, they should contact whoever they purchased their filters from for further advice on how to get them replaced. [seb]
