Owning the latest and greatest piece of aluminium and glass is a necessity of life to many people these days and the latest offer from Virgin Media to give cable customers extra value with a £5 reduction on the mobile bill along with inclusive handset insurance may make those dreams of a new phone to play with a reality for some.

The big news is that from Friday 22nd Virgin Media mobile will be offering the iPhone 5s and 5c, and the older 4s model will be available with no upfront fee and a basic mobile contract of £23 per month.

I thought the aluminium and glass referred to Virgin's HFC network ;-)

Wow those packages are awful next to the deal I currently have.

Wonder if this will mean Virgin start to offer 4G

These would also be the same 'cable only' deals anyone can actually get as well I presume. When I was with Virgin even they put me on a cable only deal knowing full well i didn't have cable!!

Virgin already offer 4G on business tariffs so it's only a matter of time before they offer it on their consumer tariffs.

Pricing is different if you don't have a VM service - answer to 'Do you already have Virgin Broadband, TV or home phone?' changes the pricing.

e.g. Samsung S4 Starter is £29 if a cable customer, and £34 if not and you lose the unlimited calls to Virgin Mobiles too.

All you do is tick a box on the website to say you are a VM customer nothing more. They don't check and never have.

IIRC the data plans aren't unlimited, after 10GB you get throttled.

if i buy a 64Gb phone for £700 and keep paying my old deal with O2 for 2 years it costs me about £600 LESS than the equivalent VM "deal"

so they are not exactly giving the thing away now are they????
