Virgin Media is leveraging its ability to deliver IPTV content to its TiVo set-top box with the full launch of the Netflix app with the roll-out to boxes taking place over the next few days.
"With the addition of our Netflix app, Virgin Media customers have an unbeatable line-up of movies and TV series to choose from. Whether it’s part of a subscription or pay-per-view, Virgin Media TiVo will help you find everything from the classic gem you’ve always wanted to watch to this summer’s biggest hits, all seamlessly integrated for simple, easy viewing."Dana Strong, Virgin Media’s chief operating officer
The app will carry a £5.99 monthly subscription and those signing up to a Premiere or VIP bundle will get six months of free access (there is also a £100 off deal that ends today on these bundles). Existing VIP and Premiere customers can get the free gift if they re-contract for a further 12 months.
Of course Netflix is available on a wide range of devices such as this Samsung Network Blu-ray player the difference when using these or your tablet, pc or phone is that you use your broadband connections bandwidth. Virgin Media has a dedicated section of bandwidth available for TiVo apps which should ensure buffering free playback.
