Call to Arms in Cornwall
Wednesday 24 April 2002 11:21:00 by Andrew Ferguson

ActNow is the Cornwall broadband initiative and they have just launched the above website, covering the Cornwall area.

They list the following exchanges as enabled, Penzance, Camborne, Redruth, Truro, Newquay, St. Austell. The exchanges at Falmouth, Bodmin, Launceston, Saltash, Penryn, St Ives and Bude will be enabled later in the year if demand is sufficient.

The initiative is aimed at boosting business in the area, and in particular they are offering an all-inclusive package to business's for £34.95 a month, this includes ADSL access, business spec PC with Word,Excel & Outlook, installation of PC and ADSL and a 3year support contract. They also offer uprated packages including ADSL access for a LAN via a Cisco router.

This launch should mean that people wanting ADSL access in Cornwall not via this initiative should be able to get onto the exchanges now - thats assumming that the exchanges arent all using Fujitsu kit and are having a 10 day delay imposed, whilst waiting for Fujitsu to introduce a permanent fix to the current problems.
