The FTTH Conference at the ExCel conference centre this coming February is rapidly approaching, and as part of this celebration of a brighter future they award FTTH Hero crystal trophies and prize money of €3000. The deadline for nominations is 12th December 2012, with the awards taking place on 21st February 2013.
Last year Neelie Kroes, vice president of the European Commission won the individual award and Altibox from Norway won the operators award. While the UK may not feature heavily on the FTTH league tables, there is plenty of activity in the area and it would be nice to see people who perhaps have just got on with the actual work, rather than chasing publicity being rewarded for once.
The FTTH Conference is in its tenth year and with 3,300 participants is unashamedly focussed on Fibre to the Home (FTTH). It is in fact the largest event of its kind in the world so with the UK playing host in 2013, when FTTH is on the verge of becoming widely available it will hopefully be a landmark year.
