Digital Region in South Yorkshire while still up for sale is continuing and today sees the announcement of the implementation of a Service Exchange Platform, which adds some fifty providers to the ones already using the network.
The wholesale platform is a collaboration between Netadmin Systems, Fluidata and Magdalene and has previously been used in Hampshire to give provider choice in a not-spot. Ensuring a wide range of provider choice with different options such as static/dynamic IP, IPv6, custom reverse DNS, managed service options and many more options is critical to ensuring take-up particularly where there is competition with existing systems that may offer these options.
"More than 80 percent of users in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and the rural areas in-between, now have access to our 50+ ISPs. Not only do the people of South Yorkshire have an enviable network, but they also have access to a very competitive broadband market. This means increased choice for those customers in the region and a larger market for our service providers to access."
Piers Daniell, Director Fluidata
Digital Region is still adding areas to its service, in the last 24 hours the areas S35 2XG, S35 2XE, S35 2XF and S35 2YP now have access to the VDSL2 products running at up to 100 Mbps.
