Plusnet launch 76meg Extra Fibre product
Tuesday 14 August 2012 15:34:11 by John Hunt

Plusnet have bumped up the speeds available to customers opting for their fibre optic broadband services. The company have revamped their 'Extra Fibre' product, now offering up to 76Mbps speeds based on the 80meg fibre-to-the-cabinet products from Openreach. Existing customers will also benefit with a free boost to upload speeds, taking them from 1.9meg to 9.5meg. This should allow people to upload videos and photo's much more quickly, and take full advantage of online / cloud based storage services.

The new fastest service from Plusnet, Extra Fibre, features a large monthly usage limit of 250 GB a month, far greater than the 40 GB included on the Value Fibre product, and the 120GB that was available on the previous 38meg variant of Extra Fibre. Prices start at £19.99 a month for those in areas which are deemed by Ofcom as Market 2 or 3, (Plusnet low cost area) or £26.49 a month outside these. Plusnet fibre products come with an 18-month contract and free installation if you take the Plusnet phone service, and are available to existing and new customers.

More details about the range of fibre-broadband options that are available from different providers are in our fibre broadband guide.

Nice advert. First Talktalk now Plusnet. Who are you going to sell out to next?

It's news, they talk about almost all the common consumer ISPs at some point through the year.

Whichever ISP makes a product announcement?

That's one of the wierdest silly comments I have ever seen here.

Is your axe very blunt?

Sadly Virgin Media need to push more upload on 60 meg eg: 60/10 as 6 meg is not competition against BT 40/10

Come on VM - get more upload for customers!

I'm guessing the average user doesn't need a big upload speed therefore it's not a priority. Almost all adverts I see on tv only talk about download speeds.

The uploads is more important now exspecially facebook quicker uploads of mobile camera photo/video etc. That's why we need a better uploads rather than downloads.
