Following on from the announcement that Virgin Media is to bring WiFi coverage to London Underground stations, the first wave of stations has now been announced.
The WiFi service will be available at the following stations by the end of July 2012 and will be free over the summer when London expects to be packed with visitors. The Virgin Media Wifi website will provide up to date information on the progress of the services roll-out.

This list of 80 stations will expand to around 120 by the end of 2012, and to ensure that the service can cope capacity testing using hundreds of devices to simulate a busy platform and a train arriving has been taking place over the last few weeks.
Had Livingstone allowed mobile operators to install a network on the underground passengers could have had voice and data (or just data) connectivity 5 years ago.
Now, a majority of passengers will be forced to pay a premium for short term WiFi access rather than having it as part of their normal 'phone's data allowance.
