Love or hate the high street coffee shop they are a fixture of most town centres, and Costa and O2 have announced a new partnership to bring O2 WiFi to the chains coffee shops.
"As people spend around half an hour in our stores, we are delighted to be partnering with O2 and providing our customers with 30minutes of free WiFi. Our Coffee Club members will be rewarded with unlimited access to further enhance their coffee shop experience."
Kevin Hydes, Marketing Director for Costa UK
The Costa Coffee Club is another store loyalty scheme, which gives members 5p onto a card for every £1 they spend in store. The addition of free unlimited WiFi access will be a welcome addition in exchange for letting the store track your coffee habit.
Freerunner had previously taken over the provisioning of free WiFi in Costa shops, so this announcement does not increase the amount of public WiFi it would appear, but rather reflects a dynamic market as providers jostle for space on high street. Prior to Freerunner the network was provided by The Cloud.
The costa near me still has the cloud as it's provider so it never shifted to Freerunner it would seem
