Unbundled telephone lines continue to grow at the expense of the increasingly less popular carrier pre selection (CPS) services. Unbundled connections amount to some 8.24 million lines in the UK at the end of March 2012, up some 200,000 in two months. Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) is also growing in popularity but at a slower rate than unbundling, adding just 20,000 lines to serve some 6.3 million telephone lines. CPS is down at the 2.49 million mark.
The Telecommunications Adjudicator has been publishing this data for some years, and four years ago unbundling was the least popular of the three options, 4.64 million unbundled versus 5.81 million lines using CPS.
probably approaching its peak, ready for the decline as FTTx starts to take hold.
