Twelve months free broadband for businesses in Liverpool
Wednesday 23 November 2011 09:26:39 by Andrew Ferguson

The £1m FibreNet project in Liverpool that has created a fibre ring around the city centre offering speeds of up to 10 Gbps has now gone live. As part of a drive to get businesses onboard and using the service, those businesses in the coverage area will be able to sign up for 12 months free pilot.

The project is led by AIMES Grid Services with support from 2020 Liverpool, Virgin Media Business and Global Crossing. The network will initially run with 1 Gbps internet bandwidth, the network supporting 10 Gbps, with a new data centre in the Liverpool Innovation Park. The eventual aim being to create an internet exchange point giving access to Tier 1 international carriers.

Businesses in the Liverpool area can contact AIMES on 0151 905 9700, to find out if they are in the coverage area.
