The Isle of Man is the next place set to the trial 4G mobile broadband services, and is looking at a possible full launch in 2013, some twelve years after it launched its 3G service. The trial is in conjunction with Alcatel-Lucent and will involve two trial networks in Douglas.
Manx Telecom at the start of October 2011 also launched its VDSL service on the island offering an up to 40 Mbps download and up to 2 Mbps upload speed, with a monthly rental of £36.45. The last major landline broadband upgrade on the island was the enabling of ADSL2+ in August 2009.
