Broadband Report From E-envoy
Tuesday 04 December 2001 12:21:00 by Andrew Ferguson

The Office of the E-envoy has published the Broadband Stakeholders Group report along with the governments take on it on his website, which is here.

Reading through the site and reports and what other sources have said about it e.g. www.theregister.co.uk and www.ispreview.co.uk it appears that they've also concluded that the reports hold nothing exciting for people looking at broadband solutions. The reports may have an impact but as with most reports of this nature they are slow to show results.

What was noticeable, is that the governments response was no to a subsidy to speed up the rollout of broadband services but they are aiming to make things like use of broadband for tele-working and the tax breaks more widely known and maybe improve them. Plus the problem of having two satellite dishes which is against planning regulations in some areas is to be looked at, so that two smaller dishes will be allowed.
