Chris Stening to take up MD role at BE
Wednesday 12 January 2011 16:30:34 by John Hunt

A new head has been appointed at broadband provider BE to take control of the ship- Chris Stening joins the company from his previous role of managing director at BSkyB business Easynet Connect which he joined from UK Online. Chris will be responsible for strategy planning as well as creating and putting across the company's vision.

"BE has an excellent reputation in the market and I look forward to working with our Head of BE Wholesale, Dan Cunliffe to develop our wholesale business. Our superior quality network with proven reliability means that it's truly built for business applications such cloud computing, VoIP or HD video conferencing. We're the newest competitor in the wholesale broadband market and, backed by O2/Telefonica, we offer a refreshing, credible and reliable alternative to the current incumbent providers."

Chris Stening, (MD) BE

BE recently launched BE Wholesale which is looking to challenge for a greater share of the wholesale marketplace. The ADSL2+ network they operate covers over 70% of businesses across 1300 exchanges. One key advantage of this is that users have access to faster upload speeds of 2.5Mbps which enables more advanced applications like video conferencing and VoIP to work seamlessly. Over 30 service providers are already using the network.

The AAISP pricing of a Be wholesale service is a bit eye watering - £20/month over a BT Wholesale option. Is this reflective of the wholesale pricing ? (I'm aware the bandwidth charges are lower but the fixed monthly intercept is rather high).

@herdwick: They aren't trying to compete with BT on price.

Be* are excellent - it's worrying that anyone associated with bskyb/ukonline [defunked] is to be MD.
Tubes > down?
I'm on Bonded now too. This is a concern to me. He had better leave Be* and customers in peace. ('_')

AAISP used to have enough info on their site for you to make some kind of comparison between Be and BT. Can't remember where though.

Very good news - ignore tommy45 who hasn't a clue what he's on about.

Easynet (now Easynet Connect) were (and still are) a superbly run company.

The fact Sky closed down the UKOnline ISP brand has nothing to do with this guy. It was all to do with management buyout of UKOnline anyway, UKOnline Connect didn't want the mass-market ISP business and Sky didn't want the "niche" ISP business (from their PoV anyway).
