Tech-savy broadband ISP AAISP have announced today that they plan to launch mobile data services starting in October 2010. The company have been working hard testing the service which will offer a 3G data SIM giving full IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity on to the AAISP network.
In a step away from every other mobile broadband provider, this will allow them to offer blocks of IP addresses to users allowing the use of multiple devices as well as 3G-fallback for your DSL service. This means if you have a fixed-line broadband service with AAISP you would be able to route your fixed-line IP's over the mobile broadband connection should there be problems with your line. The company also plan to sell equipment that will allow bonding of a DSL line and 3G mobile broadband together.
The service is also well priced. There is an initial cost of £10 for the SIM and £2 a month for access to the service with data charged at 2.5p per megabyte (plus VAT). This would therefore cost £2.50 for 100MB of data usage. Being a reasonable company, there are no minimum contracts and you do not have to pay the £2 monthly fee until you actually activate the SIM, meaning you can have it as a standby ready for just a £10 up front fee.
