have announced the signing of a 28 million Euro contract with Alcatel to provide a digital Cable TV/Internet rollout in the North of England
and South West Scotland. So far this is a part of the country that has been neglected by other providers - its hoped that the coverage will be around 325,000 homes and 25,000 businesses.
The internet side is to be provided by the now classical DSL rollout using Alcatel DSLAM's and an ATM backhaul network. The service is part of an integrated rollout of voice telephony and cable TV
services with omne's aim to provide users with a simple single point of billing for all the services.
