BTopenworld's Network is not experiencing problems
Monday 29 October 2001 15:14:00 by Andrew Ferguson

We have received some feedback on the network problems that BTopenworld users have been experiencing.

The official word is that Openworld is certain that there are not any problems in the network segment under their control. They pointed out that the service is sold as a maximum speed of 512kbps rather than a sustained speed of 512kbps and at some periods users will experience slower speeds - this is referring to the 50:1 contended nature.

Throttling wise they reassert that no throttling is taking place, and also for those users who've found a haven of spike free service on a different Home Gateway they've said that no-one has been kicked off the broadband service. If a login refuses to work an a gateway this will be Service Selection Barring coming into operation.
