Wales to get £18.4million of broadband
Friday 26 October 2001 21:15:00 by Andrew Ferguson

The Register has some great news for Wales, the £18.4 million is designed to bring broadband access to each Welsh Local Authority. The grant is part of a move to re-generate local business parks, by increasing the attractiveness of them. Schools, libraries and learning centres are all expected to benefit from the move.

Which broadband technologies are likely to be used is unclear at present, but it's likely that BT exchanges will gain DSLAM's in a number of towns.

This announcement shows what can be acheived by concerted and organised campaigning hopefully it will provide inspiration to other regions.
