Fibre for homes on Gateshead brownfield site
Thursday 05 March 2009 10:53:23 by Andrew Ferguson

The Baltic Business Quarter in Gateshead already offers fibre connectivity for businesses, and by running a fibre from there to a nearby new housing development people who eventually move in look set to have the option for 100Mbps broadband or faster.

The article on does not give any time line for when the properties will be built, but it seems while 19 sites in the area are headlined for property development, the proximity of the former Freightliner depot site (to be developed) to the Baltic Business Quarter means that linking into the existing network will just require a fibre passing under the A184 Felling bypass.
